PARTICIPATION AND CONTRIBUTION
With 3 ways to participate, you can choose what works for you. Contributions help keep these fantastic programs running.
A question many people have about us is how our Cardinal Ranch "the business" interacts with Cardinal Ranch Connections the "non-profit". So here's a little about that.....Cardinal Ranch's main revenue steams are teaching horsemanship clinics and horse sales. We have always used our own resources to do cowboy church and to mentor and disciple our working students. These aspects on the ranch have grown and with the help of a few friends we did our first Teen Development Camp summer of 2023. As these kind of opportunities increase so does the need for infrastructure, trained leaders, and funding to pull it all off. Thus the decision to partner with SERVE Canada has helped to add organization, accountability and the ability to give tax deductible receipts to those who donate.
If you feel that the things we are doing have value and would like to add your support there are a couple of key ways.
1. Stay connected to us at the ranch, and others who are helping. We can correspond by email, text, or through Facebook. We will send our occasional updates, scheduled events, or pressing needs. We will try not to be annoying, and you can get off our list at any time. (complete form below)
2. Be our people/network ! While we are busy doing our 'ranchy' things we often find ourselves needing input, support or problem solving skills. For example, we have friends who we can reach out to for different kinds of support. We just made connections with someone who can help with some of the counseling needs, and another parent of one of our teens is helping us figure out how to convert a sea can into a tack room for the summer camp. Those willing to invest their creativity, resources, or prayers are much appreciated.
3. If you find yourself as "one of our people", help us find more people who might be interested.
As you can see there are a lot of ways to GIVE, and financially is one of the most important ways for us to be supported so we can plan ahead for the upcoming year. Check out the specific project needs below. Give monthly or a one-time donation. Link below.
Specific Project Funding Needs
Teen Development Camp
Our teens pay a small fixed amount for their 3 weeks on Cardinal Ranch with their horse. Further project funding is needed to cover the cost of daily meals together, leadership training, staff wages, horsemanship lessons, horse board, and insurance. Also a project for teen housing is much needed and plans are in the works!
Cowgirls@Heart
We host some really fun events that include learning to rope our tame calf, Russell! Or small groups where we take horsemanship principles and apply them to learning about our own hearts.
Production of Online content through Social Media and a Cowgirls@Heart Devotional App to keep young women connected to each other and growing is new project. It all takes time, money to make it happen.
Cowboy Church
Cowboy Church does not take a lot of finances to pull off, but it takes a lot of personal energy and WORK from us and our team. For this reason it is important to have those who are willing to support it with food, music, set up. Project funds for Cowboy Church are used mostly to cover food and travel.
Invest in Leaders
Leaders emerge at Cardinal Ranch rather organically. For example, a teen may return to mentor others the following year, or our top horse trainer agreed to do horsemanship lessons with the teens. Our working cowgirl types can teach roping to others.
Funding pays these leaders modestly for their roles as well as supports personal counseling, resources and training used to prepare them.
